• Mary’s Place Holiday Events to Benefit #nochildsleepsoutside

It’s hard to believe December is upon us this week!

It seems every year goes by quicker than the last and here we are just three and half weeks until Christmas. I know for myself it is also a time of reflection after the hustle and bustle and long days of summer. I find myself thinking of ways that I can help or do something that is meaningful in our community.  Last year I contacted Mary’s Place to see what kind of help they needed.  They were accepting  toy/clothing donations at the Ballard Community Church and needed people to wrap these items to be given to families for the Holidays. I took my 9 year old daughter and her friend so that we could give some of our time in helping Mary’s Place accomplish their goal. They had received tons of donations and there was a lot of wrapping to do.  It was a great way to get the kids involved in giving time to others. This year, Mary’s place has several events scheduled that help provide Holiday gifts and services for these families.

Coming up next Saturday, December 9th, is the Brooks Holiday Fun Run! This is a 3-mile run that starts in Fremont and ends with post race burgers from Dick’s! To get in the spirit festive gear is welcome:)  10% of all purchases made at Brooks from Dec 3 through Dec 10 will benefit the Mary’s Place No Child Sleeps Outside crowdfunding campaign: www.nochildsleepsoutside.org!

On December 14th Amazon Event Center will host Home for the Holidays winter concert featuring the Amazon Symphony and special guests Vocally Self Critical.  This is a benefit for the #nochildsleepsoutsidecampaign and is $25/ticket.

Mary’s Place fills a critical need in our community and I encourage you to like their Facebook page if you want to see the wonderful things that happen through donations from you, and the work of Mary’s Place.

There are events and fundraisers all year round and volunteers are often needed! Here’s the link to their website so you can learn more about Mary’s Place and how you can help!

    Season’s Greetings!
